PODCASTS

high low WITH eMRATA: SARAH HOOVER

Art! Patriarchy! New York City! Childbirth! My friend, Sarah Hoover, former Gagosian gallery director turned writer, comes on the pod today to talk about her experience with postpartum depression, her understanding of art history through the lens of feminism, the medical-industrial complex and the terrifying history behind women’s healthcare. Sarah also gives a peek into her upcoming memoir, Motherload.

Being Critical of Something
you Love, with Sarah Hoover

“I love America more than any other country in this world, and, exactly for this reason, I insist on the right to criticize her perpetually.” Thats a quote from James Baldwin. One of my favorites. But I realized it applies to so many things...our careers/industries, our relationships, our systems etc. I’ve been in the media field for 10 years and am highly critical of it - because I love it so much. There’s a way to be critical and productive about things we love. Sarah Hoover is a great example of that. One of the most brilliant people in the art world - but also vocal about its flaws. I sat down with her and she got real about the problems and ways to alleviate them.

Frank Fridays: Sarah Hoover

Join Art Frankly's Founder and CEO, Karline Moeller, and Ellie Hayworth, Founder of Hayworth, as they interview art professionals for the new series: Frank Fridays.

This week, they sat down with art historian and writer, Sarah Hoover.

Beauty Bosses: Episode 9
with Sarah Hoover from Gagosian

Sarah Hoover's grandfather used to always take her to art museums when she was growing up, so it was not entirely surprising that she ended up as a graduate student studying art. On a whim, however, she applied for and landed a job with Larry Gagosian. That decisively bent her career path away from the hallowed halls of academe to the fast-paced, dynamic world of contemporary art. Dr. Lara Devgan talks to Sarah Hoover about working at the most successful gallery in the world and what it takes to represent some of the most prominent artists from around the globe.

Finding Your Purpose
and Becoming a Party Mom

This week on ageless, we sat down with mother-daughter duo Martha and Sarah Hoover. Martha is a former sex-crimes prosecutor turned restauranteur and Sarah is the director of Gagosian’s Chelsea art gallery. In this episode, we discuss career pivots, finding your purpose, motherhood, and much more!
